Classes This Summer

We have lots of lovely classes coming up this term ahead of the summer break, so if you'd like to try a new skill, or make something lovely for yourself or your home take a look at the classes on offer.


Vintage Purses - Sat 25th April 10.30 - 1.30pm

 Make a super useful metal clasp purse in a morning. Bring along two favourite fabrics and we supply the rest of the hardware to make your purse. These are fantastic presents, if you can bring yourself to give it away, or make more for teacher gifts, Christmas presents or lucky family members. With Deb.

This is a sewing machine class.


Basic Zippered Purses - Tues 28th April 10am - 1pm or 7pm- 10pm

As you can see we love good storage when it involves lovely fabric -  and bags and pouches are so useful. Use as a make up bag, pencil case, store sewing supplies or equipment. Use a favourite fabric print and make a whole set.. Learn how to make a lined pouch and insert a zip. This is a sewing machine class with Deb.



Get To Know Your Sewing Machine - Tuesday 12th and 19th May 10am - 12pm

Our introduction to sewing with a machine. This popular class is suitable for those completely new to sewing machines, as well as rusty returnees. This is a really comprehensive class covering how to get the best from your machine, troubleshooting problems, how to use the feet that come with your machine, how to get professional results with your sewing machine. English Paper Piecing Workshop, Evening class 7.30pm - 9.30pm 13th May, 24th June, 8th July
                                                 Daytime class 10am - 1pm Fri 5th June, 19th June, 3rd July

A perennial favourite, this method of patchwork is the perfect portable summer sewing. Make modern graphic quilts. Learn how to draft your own patterns and enjoy a sociable hand sewing class with Deb.


Beginners Embroidery Class Friday 15th May, 12th June, 10th July

A three part class designed as an introduction to embroidery. You will work on this lovely design, learning a selection of basic embroidery stitches as you complete the sampler over the three classes. A relaxing hand sewing class with Victoria Main



Novice Knitting  Friday 22nd May 9.30am- 2pm

For complete beginners or novice knitters. Spend a day learning methods of cast on and when to use them, garter stitch,moss stitch, ribbing, increasing and decreasing and casting on. The class price includes a pair of bamboo needles and a ball of wool. With Penny Cole




Novice Crochet Sat 23rd May 10am - 2.30pm

For complete beginners or novice crocheters. Learn the different stitches, how to read a pattern, how to change colours, make a granny square, learn how to join crochet pieces together. The class price includes a bamboo hook and ball of yarn. With Penny Cole.



Teens: Get To Know Your Sewing Machine Tuesday 26th May 10am - 1pm

Back by popular demand, our introduction to sewing with a sewing machine, suitable for kids aged 9+ and a pre requisite for many of our teens dressmaking classes. This class teaches young people to use a sewing machine independently, how to make safe use of your machine, how to troubleshoot when things go wrong. With Val Dell.



Teens: Bedroom Bunting Thursday 28th May 10.30am - 1.30pm

A great beginners sewing machine project. Spend a morning making bespoke bunting for your bedroom and learning some important machine sewing skills. With Victoria


Teens Simple Skirts Friday 29th May 10.30am - 2pm

Our super popular teens class - learn how to make a fun  Flippy Lined Skirt. This class teaches basic dressmaking skills, accurate measurement, pattern cutting, seam finishing, making a casing and hemming. With Val.



Cathedral windows Evening Class  7.30pm - 9.30pm Thurs 4th June, 18th June, 2nd July
                             Daytime Class 10am - 12pm Thurs 18th June, 25th June, 9th July

Learn this traditional hand sewn technique but make it modern. Make cushions, table runners, in cushions and more. Hand sewing. With Claire




Summer Garden Party Bunting Sat 6th June 10.30am - 1.30pm

Spend a morning making some lovely bunting to use in your garden this summer. We'll show you 3 different bunting styles, learn how to make your own bias binding and get set for summer in style. With Victoria.


Fabric Lanyard Key Rings Tuesday 16th June 10am - 12pm.

A fun fast class where we will show you the principles of making these great gift keyrings. You can embellish your keyrings anyway you choose from free motion embroidery to patchwork or appliqué. We'll make 2 or 3 in the class and we will supply you with hardware with Deb.


Make a Wrap for Knitting Needles or Crochet Hooks Fri 19th June 10am- 1pm

A useful project, especially if you're taking our Novice Knitting or Crochet classes, or make your wrap into a makeup brush wrap or crayon holder for little ones. This is a great technique and pattern to have in your repertoire and is a fun make. With Victoria

Patchwork Sewing Machine Cover Tues 23rd June 9.30am - 1pm

Make a great cover for your machine using your favourite fabrics. This is a super stylish patchwork machine cover that transforms into a sewing mat with pockets to place your machine on when you're sewing. It minimises machine 'bounce' when you are sewing full throttle and is a great noise reducer for the rest of the family. With Claire.

Summer Al Fresco Placemats

Get ready for summer by making some fabric placemats for al fresco dining. This is a great stash busting project and is also a lovely gift. With Claire.


Make a Baby Quilt in a Day

Our popular 'complete beginners' class. We provide the fabric and supplies ( and sewing machine if you require) and we wil teach you teh basics of patchwork in a day. You'll go home with a finished nany sized patchwork quilt. With Claire


Free Motion Embroidery

Thic class sells out every time we run it, it's so much fun it should come with a prescription! If you haven't tried it yet, you won't regret giving it a go, book quick before this class is full as well.

Next Steps in Knitting - Sat 4th July 10am - 2.30pm

A follow on from our Novice Knitting class, take your knitting further, read patterns, learn to cable, learn some more complex stitches, this class is tailored to our knitters so e mail with issues ahead of the class.
