Fabric-ulous Friday

Ohh it was a fun filled day at The Workroom today. My Modern Applique class met this morning. They are all super talented and the blocks coming out of this class are breathtakingly beautiful - check out a previous post on their progress here. In the midst of much chat and sewing the door bell rang and it was the highly anticipated Craig. Craig is our (now regular) courier who you can track minute by minute online as he wends his way to Wendover to deliver your package. Now that sounds, sort of, more sinister than it is...honestly! It's just today we were awaiting a really special fabric delivery! Hels and I have been pashing on Emmy Grace by Bari J for Art Gallery Fabrics for about 2 months now from when we first ordered it, and today was the big delivery day.

Our door bell was ringing off the wall this morning - each time we opened the door we revealed, not Craig - but another customer eagerly anticipating Craig, word spreads quickly in PlainStitch world! Watch it ripple through PlainStitches lovely cafe friends at Whitewaters and Lady Grey Tearooms! By the time Craig arrived we were packed to the gunnels in The Workroom, handing round Netties to die for homemade Lemon curd tarts ( inspired by her recent trip to River Cottage) - yes they were a yum as they sound!

Sticky fingers aside we fell on that fabric like a pack of hungry fabric wolves! It really is the perfect collection. I do love teal, I really do, its fresh and modern and paired with mustard it has just the right amount of retro for me, then the soft pink is easy to fall for, then the gunmental grey is just the accent it all needs. OOhhhh it's fabric love, it also works brilliantly with lots of our other fabric in at the moment - see my rainbow bundle above. The fabulous bright coloured flowers on grey fabric didn't even make it on to a shelf before the whole bolt was divvied up and dispatched off home with a new owner! If you weren't there you missed out today - but we do have everything on reorder! We've yet to receive the highly anticipated Little Girl Fishing print and so expect a similar rush on that one - we'll post on facebook  and twitter when it arrives so like us or follow us or pre order ahead with Hels.

Ironically our Hels who runs the PlainStitch ShopRoom has been off hobnobbing it with the fabric elite at The Custard Factory in Birmingham ( of course Hels had to be there amongst her people!) at an open day for the fabric company who make Emmy Grace, while we've been shopping out her much anticipated fabric! Eek, awkward x x

In other news this week we enjoyed a fab Bee on Tuesday, its such a lovely gathering - even if the car park could do with doubling to hold us all!

We saw some fantastic finishes - this rather wonderful 'Favourite Things' quilt from our Log Cabin class pattern has been made for a very special teacher who retires this year. I'd better say no more as you never know who is reading the blog! Each centre depicts something the recipient loves and has been made with such love that it can't fail to delight. Isn't it wonderful? It will make a special lady very happy - I predict tears all round

Oooh that Prairie back with the pop of bright pink binding is a delight in itself!

Look at this rather wonderful Simple Sampler that popped in with its maker to see us - it's just so sumptuous! I adore it! Well done Sue!

And as if this isn't enough reasons to come by and say hi - for all of July we will be running our Big Summer Stash Sale. Buy 3 cut fat quarters and get one for free! It's the perfect opportunity to stock up an any gaps in that stash ahead of the busy autumn making season while the sun is still shining. Come and have a rummage - fabric is flying out the door and  so if you see it, get it before it's gone - you knwo it will turn out to be 'the perfect' thing you needed for a project!
